The Writers
The Teal Guide is made up of 22 talented writers attending Eckerd College. They've left behind the sunny beaches of St. Petersburg, Florida for the bustling markets of London, England and couldn't be more thrilled. Being abroad has allowed them to find their favorite coffee shops, meet local Londoners, get lost on public transportation, fumble for pence, and search the streets for the best street food. They've enjoyed writing their favorite experiences and hope that their knowledge of the markets will help many visitors to come.
THE CREATIVE TEAM
Marius Black is a Senior at Eckerd College who genuinely believes Orcs make everything better. They are really glad Lion bars are readily available in London, they would call themselves a lover of fantasy, marxism, not staying hydrated, and generally being funnier when they can write their jokes out. Y'know, like this bio. They're afraid this class gave them a few early gray hairs.
Emilie Booth is a Senior at Eckerd College studying Literature with a minor in Journalism. She hopes to one day go to graduate school, but hasn't decided what she wants to do there yet. She enjoys eating in her spare time, but occasionally reads and writes. She tells the best jokes and is an overall joy to be around.
R Hettinger is a swamp witch hailing from Key West Florida. She is also a cooking expert, illustrator, and Mothman aficionado. R’s plans for the future include adopting two cats and two dogs, getting married, staying in Florida and dying there.
Caroline Kothari is a Sophomore at Eckerd College studying Literature with a possible minor in Human Development. She enjoys hanging out with family and friends and eating food. She has a goal to be an author and provide healing to the world on a global level as a certified firewalk instructor.
Cortney Lesovoy is a rising senior at Eckerd College studying Creative Writing and Photography. She loves sports, music, long walks on the beach, and Game of Thrones. Her goal is to keep going to school for the rest of her life so she never has to pay back her student loans.
Jamie Myre is a Sophomore at Eckerd College studying Creative Writing, Literature, and Women’s and Gender Studies. She is so grateful for the time she spent in London and aspires to do with her life whatever will allow her to return.
Sam Normington is a senior (citizen) at Eckerd College. He studies creative writing and Spanish and never plans to use either. In London, he honed his grumbling skills while trying to discover how some places are good, despite being filled with people. Sam can be found anywhere (street corners, pubs, a random couch, etc...) talking someone's ear off and convincing them of his potential. He does have a lot of potential, which might not be a complement.
Kaley Whipple is a Senior at Eckerd College studying Creative Writing and Theatre. Her past work has been featured in The Eckerd Review, The Red Cedar Review, The Teal Guide to London, and Florida's Best Emerging Poets anthology. She has also performed in eight Eckerd College theatre productions and participates in the Eckerd Choir and EC Thespian Company.
